1. My most successful artwork was this dongle. I feel like it is my most successful piece because it is where I first successfully drew something without contour lines. Mrs. Barnett said to stop using lines and I just did. I shaded up to the lines instead of coloring inside the lines and it gave my drawing a lot more dimension.
2. The project where I overcame the most obstacles was in the observation. I didn't think I would ever be able to draw something that looks realistic. I had to draw it and shade the pot 4 times because I kept messing up. Then I shaded the actual cactus, but then I had to erase it all and do it again because i shaded it it incorrectly. I did it the opposite of how it looks now.. The lightest part I made dark and the darkest part I made the lightest. After I finished the cactus and it looked like it was floating so I added the table mat (horizon). After I finished that the wood in the background seemed to mix withe the cactus so i had to go back and make it darker than I originally made it.
3. These 2 pieces show my growth as an artist because I tried something new. I had never used watercolors and i was afraid that the colors would mix. I realized that if you let it dry it shouldn't mix too much. For the water i was thinking of painting with a light blue and go over with a darker blue. But as I added more layers it wasn't necessary its started to create dark streaks on its own, which is really cool.
For the bear I wasn't to thrilled to draw it because i had never tried it. I looked up some pictures and tried to draw it more realistic instead of cartoon-like and it actually came out really good. I learned that you'll never learn anything knew if you only stick to what you already know.

4. I really like this new teaching style introduced. I feel like if you let people interpret a theme however they want they can express themselves much better than if you give them a list of expectations and limitations. Last year in Mr. Gray's everyone did the exact same thing. You didn't have to be good there was no way to mess up on a project, everything is very structured and systematic. But In this class we can choose whatever medium and interpretation we want. This allows people to think more creatively because your not restricted to a specific image or anything. I feel like i have really grown because i have been allowed to explore different mediums and techniques on my own rather than doing the same thing everyone else is doing. I also like that in this new teaching style its okay to mess up because you learn more out of a mistake than a perfect piece of art.
